Guru Life Under The Knife at Kitchen Nightmares

Queensland sunshine is in full force over diners at Guru Life Café and Garden Restaurant, and even more so as it re-opened recently with a fresh decor and new menu courtesy of Channel Seven’s Kitchen Nightmares.

Kitchen Nightmares is hosted by award-winning chef, author and television personality Colin Fassnidge, and features restaurants in dire need of an overhaul. The hospitality industry has been hit hard over the past couple of years and the show provides a fascinating insight into the struggles these businesses face. Like the global series featuring Gordon Ramsay, the show is an entertaining mixture of practical wisdom, tension and conflict that come with some hard truths, and the overarching emotions as the restaurants rise from the ashes.

One of the first restaurants to be aired, Guru Life in Rosemount, Queensland, had all the makings of a popular restaurant with its lush, green outdoor gardens, quirky indoor space and its own Guru Life coffee blends.

With Colin coming in and overhauling the menu and revving up the staff – Chairforce supplied the streamlined look for the furniture so the real stars of the show, the delicious food and beautiful setting, could shine. As television shows like this one move at lightning speed, Chairforce was able to supply its products in large quantities at short notice to keep up with Guru Life’s impressive and fast transformation.

Goodbye mismatched chairs – hello Red & Black Tolix chairs to match the Guru Life company colours. Red Tolix chairs provide a bright, industrial look for the café. These stackable, sturdy chairs not only provide a comfortable seat for diners, they’re also durable for the mixed settings Guru Life uses them for and easy to pack away when needed.

Throughout the grassed area, tables are surrounded by our red Replica Tolix café stools and the counter height tables (perfect for cocktail hour, also a must at Guru Life) have Replica Tolix counter stools, also in red. These stools were first designed in 1934 by Xavier Pauchard and have stood the test of time in both the café and home setting with their light weight and durability. They’re easy to move around to suit the occasion and provide that classic industrial sleekness to any setting.

We can’t wait to knock back a Guru Life blend long mac and some chaat masala scrambled eggs while soaking up the tranquillity of the gardens, prettily perched on one of our Tolix chairs. If you’re in Queensland, put Guru Life on your must-visit list.
