Cleaning & Care of Your Stone Table Top

DAILY CLEANING & CARE OF YOUR NATURAL STONE TOP
For everyday, routine cleaning of these stone tops we recommend wiping the surface with:
• warm soapy water (a mild detergent) and a soft, clean, damp cloth or sponge,
or
• use a stone spray cleaner.
Dry thoroughly after cleaning with a clean cloth to prevent water spots.
AVOID placing hot objects directly on stone as this will cause discolouration and marking.
DO NOT apply bleach, windex, gumption, jif or vinegar to clean your stone top.
Spills should be removed immediately, to prevent damage and discolouration. (Clean with mild soapy water and a clean soft cloth.)

HINTS & TIPS
Most shiny stone tops will look smeared if not wiped properly.  If using a mild detergent, more often than not, it is the soap residue left behind which leaves the smear.  Using a clean cloth and hot water can usually take off the majority of what needs to be cleaned.  A followup with a clean polishing cloth will ensure a shiny top.  (Don’t use metal scouring pads or metal scrubbers.)

GENERAL CARE OF YOUR STONE TOP
• Stone and marble is highly porous, which means it is very susceptible to staining and water marks. Liquid spills including coffee, fruit juice, food colourings and curries, should be wiped up immediately to avoid staining. Clean with mild soapy water and a clean soft cloth.
The best way to avoid marks or staining is to avoid them. We highly recommend use of cork mats, coasters or place mats and to wipe your table immediately if you notice a spill.
• Stone table tops are naturally subject to chipping, particularly the edges when tables are moved or pushed together. If you regularly change your seating or are looking to move these tables outside during the day, please opt for a different top such as the Chairforce Ciro Table Top Range, which is a lightweight melamine available in a black or white marble pattern.
• Because heat can discolour stone, we do not advise placing hot items straight onto a stone top. Once discoloured it can be very hard to fix and may require resurfacing. Use of a cork mat should suffice.
• Most stone products are scratch resistant but not scratch-proof.  For example, an unsealed terracotta pot slid across the bench can scratch the stone.

Natural stone table tops offer a solid and enduring investment with it’s beautifully polished surface. These versatile Adele marble stone tops from Chairforce are supplied with a timber backing that can be attached to any base. The high gloss is an attractive feature, combined with the beauty of natural stone you will enjoy years of use with this durable top.

When choosing to purchase a Chairforce stone table top, we ask you to acknowledge that part of the charm of a natural stone table is that it’s like a living, breathing entity. The surface changes and evolves over time through use and age.
That’s part of what makes it so unique. Please consider that the “lived in” luster of stone offers a beauty all its own.
