Installing the Umbrella Hole Grommet
Step 1: Mark the Spot.
Measure and mark the centre of your tabletop for the umbrella hole. Ensure this mark is at the centre of the table and won’t interfere with its structure – check there is no support bar directly underneath the hole.
Step 2: Drill.
Use a hole saw attachment on a power drill to cut through the polywood. Select the appropriate size based on the diameter of your chosen grommet.
Drill slowly to avoid damaging/melting the tabletop.
Step 3: Smooth the Edges.
After drilling, use sandpaper to smooth the edges of the hole.
Step 4: Install a Grommet.
Insert a grommet into the hole to protect the polywood from wear and tear. Use super glue to secure the grommet to the table.
The grommet will help stabilize the umbrella pole and give the table a neat, finished look.
